What is a Developmental Lab?

A Developmental Lab is a step between a staged reading of a new play and a full production. It allows the playwright to move into the next phase of the creative process by working in a collaborative environment with a director, full cast, staging, and an exploration of design elements. This gives the writer an opportunity to hear their work in front of an audience and to revise throughout the process. We invite our members into the room as a vital part of this phase of development.
