Marjorie Johnson – who played the title role in Colman Domingo’s DOT during its premiere engagement at the Actors Theatre of Louisville’s HUMANA FESTIVAL earlier this year – will return to the role when DOT has its NY debut at Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15 St.), it has been announced by Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern, Artistic Directors. Directed by multiple Tony Award winner, Susan Stroman – returning to The Vineyard for the first time since she directed the theater’s acclaimed world premiere of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS – DOT begins previews February 4, 2016 prior to opening February 23.

Elsewhere Off-Broadway she appeared in Pearl Theatre’s THE HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA, and on Broadway she was in the cast of THE LITTLE FOXES.
Rounding out the cast of DOT are Colin Hanlon (“Modern Family”), Stephen Conrad Moore (“Empire”), Libya V. Pugh (THE BLUEST EYE), Michael Rosen (ON THE TOWN), Finnerty Steeves (LOST IN YONKERS), and Sharon Washington (THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS).
DOT is the story of family matriarch Dotty, whose three adult children gather for the holidays with more than exchanging gifts on their minds. As Dotty struggles to navigate life with dementia, her children fight to balance care for their mother and care for themselves.
DOT is the newest play by actor/author Colman Domingo, whose play A BOY AND HIS SOUL about growing up amidst the funk and soul sounds of Philly in the 70’s, was a hit at The Vineyard in 2009. Mr. Domingo is best-known as an actor on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in film with a string of memorable roles in PASSING STRANGE, THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, SELMA, THE BUTLER and LINCOLN.
