(Playwright) My Thing of Love (Broadway, Steppenwolf Theatre, Joseph Jefferson Award), Supple In Combat (Steppenwolf Theatre), I Never Told Anyone (a short play, McCarter Theatre) and Mother of Invention (Steppenwolf Theatre, Williamstown Theatre Festival). Her play, Omnium Gatherum, which she co-wrote with Theresa Reeck, premiered at the 2003 Humana Festival at Actors Theatre of Louisville and was subsequently produced Off-Broadway, as well as countless regional and international productions. Omnium Gatherum was a finalist for the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. A one act, The Airport Play, will appear this Spring’s EST Marathon 2005 and seven other short plays have been produced at the HB Playwrights Foundation. Her plays have been published by Samuel French and Smith and Kraus. As an actress, she recently appeared in last year’s premiere of Nicky Silver’s Beautiful Child (Vineyard Theatre) as well as productions in New York at EST, Second Stage, Primary Stages, HOME, New York Stage and Film Company and on Broadway. Special thanks to all the talented theatre artists who collaborated on The Argument in its many incarnations, especially dramaturg Len Berkman and the gang at New York Stage and Film Company where the play was workshopped last summer. Ms. Gersten-Vassilaros is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts, a member of Actors Studio, and the HB Playwrights Foundation. She would especially like to thank her husband John and her three sons, Tonio, Luka and Stefano for their abundant enthusiasm and and very long surname.
