She also received the NYCLU Michael Friedman Freedom award for her commitment to pursuing social justice in both her life and career. She founded Broadway for Obama in 2012 and Broadway Feeds Bellevue in 2020 and is a dedicated union member of Actor’s Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA. Celia is a member of The Actors Center, she graduated from the University of Michigan and has completed training to be an end-of-life doula. 

Edie Falco is best known for her roles as Diane Whittlesey on the HBO series Oz, Carmela Soprano on The Sopranos, and the title role of Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. For her television work she has received multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Awards, as well as the American Film Institute’s Award for Female Television Actor of the Year. Falco made her Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning play Sideman after appearing in its original off-Broadway production. For her performance, she received a Theatre World Award and Drama Desk Award nomination. She went on to make her London stage debut in the West End premiere of Sideman, and thereafter opened the London production The Vagina Monologues. Other Broadway credits include Frankie And Johnny In The Clair De Lune, ‘Night Mother, and The House of Blue Leaves (Tony Award Nomination). Off-Broadway she has appeared in The Madrid, This Wide Night, The True, Morning Sun and Pre-Existing Condition.

For her work in the feature film Cost of Living, Falco received the American Film Institute’s Best Actress Award. Her performance in Laws of Gravity earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Female Lead Actor, and she received the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and New York Film Critics Online Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in John Sayles’ Sunshine State. Other film work includes A Price Above Rubies, Landline, Hurricane, The Funeral, The Addiction, Bullets Over Broadway, Freedomland, The Land of Steady Habits, Random Hearts, Judy Berlin, I’ll Be Right There, The Parenting, and the Avatar sequels.

Dael’s plays include Stoop Stories, Black n’ Blue Boys/Broken Men, Horsedreams, Bones, The Blue Album, Yellowman, The Gimmick, Monster, and Forever. Ms. Orlandersmith was a Pulitzer Prize finalist and Drama Desk Award nominee for Yellowman and the winner of the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for The Gimmick. Dael is the recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Grant, The Helen Merrill Award for Emerging Playwrights, a Guggenheim, along with several other awards and honors. Her play, Forever, was commissioned and performed at the Mark Taper Forum/Kirk Douglas Theatre Fall of 2014, followed by performances at the Long Wharf Theatre Winter 2014/15, New York Theatre Workshop Spring 2015, and Portland Center Stage Winter 2016. Her play Until the Flood was done at St. Louis Repertory fall of 2016. Ms Orlandersmith appeared in Marin Ireland’s play Pre-Existing Condition at the Connelly theatre directed by Maria Dizzia . She is currently working on a commission from the Goodman theatre called Blood Memory for fall 2026.
